ECHINACEA-PROPOLIS THROATEASE™

INDICATIONS:
Our Echinacea-Propolis ThroatEase™ formula is ideal for sore throats associated with cold, flu, or infections like tonsillitis. It’s a great-tasting formula and comes in a convenient spray bottle for easy use. This product can be safely taken many times daily, on an “as needed” basis whenever these irritating sicknesses and infections occur. The Propolis adds an extra antibacterial dimension and helps to eliminate infection.

DESCRIPTION OF INGREDIENTS:

Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
Marshmallow contains large amounts of mucilage. It is notable for its soothing, demulcent effects on inflamed mucous membranes. This makes it very useful for cases of inflamed throat and larynx, as well as coughs associated with inflamed respiratory mucosae.

CWS™ (Colostrum Whey Soluble) Liquid Whey
CWS™ is derived from colostrum. Colostrum is the first milk produced by all mammalian mothers (humans and cows for example) upon birth of a newborn. Some scientists believe that, besides the immunoglobulins (antibodies) present in colostrum, there are other (some as yet unidentified) constituents such as amino acids and minerals that also play an essential role in transferring passive immunity from mother to offspring. This transference is passive and not species-specific. In other words, the colostrum solubles from a cow can effectively transfer passive immunity to people. Just as a mother confers passive immunity on her newborn, so the CWS confers passive immunity on those who consume it, infants and adults alike. It is the added boost of CWS™ that lends a synergistic immune effect to formulas of this kind.

EchinAce™ (Echinacea angustifolia root; Echinacea purpurea root, flower, and seed – St. Francis Herb Farm’s “original” Echinacea formula).
Medical practitioners of the 19th and early 20th centuries found Echinacea effective for serious infections such as typhus, diphtheria, and scarlet fever. This should give you some idea of its powerful antiseptic qualities. Modern science has verified Echinacea’s anti-microbial properties.

Specifically, Echinacea has proven effective in elevating white blood cell counts and has demonstrable antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-tumour qualities. Because it’s antiviral, Echinacea significantly reduces cold and flu symptoms, allowing them to be resolved more quickly.

It’s also taken by those who feel themselves coming down with a cold or flu and need something right away to counter these strong viruses. This makes the onset of cold and flu a less frequent occurrence.

Echinacea can be used with a bit of water as a sore throat gargle to soothe irritated, inflamed throats, reinforcing the action of Echinacea-Propolis ThroatEase™ or Echinacea-Golden Seal ThroatEase™.

Echinacea is great for lung infections (see also Usnea Combo). Diluted with water, it can also be applied externally with cotton swabs as a wash for infected cuts, wounds, and scrapes (note that it stings).

Propolis
Propolis is a resinous substance that comes from the honeybee. Like Myrrh, Propolis contains a large percentage of resin. Generally, medicines that contain resin have potent antimicrobial properties. The antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal action of Propolis has been proven. Propolis has been found effective against Trichophyton, E.Coli, Streptococcus, and Staph aureus infections. As well, Propolis enjoys anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunostimulatory qualities.

Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis)
Hyssop is an herb with anti-inflammatory properties. Traditionally it has been used as a gargle to soothe sore throats. Hyssop is a common expectorant, employed for coughs due to cold and bronchitis. It’s also a sedative, reducing anxiety and insomnia. As well, it can be used in cases of asthma.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
Fennel has antimicrobial properties. It’s also a soothing expectorant for coughs and a urinary agent for cystitis. As well, it’s considered to be a digestive stimulant, useful for relieving flatulence, abdominal distension, and dull pain. Fennel is a great tasting herb and it helps to make this formula taste delicious.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
A valuable tonic and stress-relieving medicine, Licorice is also a proven immunostimulatory herb with notable antiviral qualities. In particular, it’s the glycyrrhizinic acid constituent of Licorice that has proven antiviral properties through the stimulation of interferon production. Licorice is effective as well in the treatment of viral hepatitis. The flavonoid component has been shown to have antioxidant effects (weight for weight) exceeding those of Vitamin E by 200-fold. With a sweetening power several times that of sugar, Licorice helps to give this formula a great taste.

ADMINISTRATION
This product can be safely taken many times daily, on an “as needed” basis whenever irritating infections occur and they affect the throat.

Testimonials

The sore, raw feeling had disappeared.

“A short while ago I woke up in the middle of the night with my throat feeling raw and sore. I was sure that the next day I’d be down for the count – feeling rotten and sick. All the same, hoping for the best, I crawled out of bed and grabbed my bottle of ThroatEase™. Sleepily I gave my throat a couple of sprays and returned to bed. Lo and behold, the next morning, much to my surprise and delight, the sore, raw feeling had disappeared, leaving me free to tackle another work day without the stress of being sick.”
